    Kingsnake classifieds
I got a question has anybody bought from kingsnakes website in the classified section?? I see on their listings well known breeders but then I see people on there with only their names. So what does king snake do to ensure the consumer isn't being screwed? I've never bought from kingsnake classifieds thank you

If you are getting it shipped and it isn't a known breeder, ask if they are certified to ship snakes, and what companies they are certified to ship through.

Ask for photos of snakes you want (Adam from 8-ball, the only time I have ordered online, sent me about a half dozen extra pictures of the snake without me even requesting them).

If you want to be thorough, ask for pictures of their setup, and ask for contact information for their personal snake vet (in other words a reference).

If the snakes you are looking at are like 200 dollars or more and the person is unknown, go through all that with them if you need to ease your mind. Most people won't mind because none of this is too much effort on their part.

Don't forget to quarantine any snakes you get, and make sure you know what the snake is eating, and that it has been eating.

.There is only one company you can be certified by to ship through and it is fedex, only fedex certifies people, you can use a third party company that will allow you to print a label to ship through fedex however you are not certified by doing so.

Lol because now not only people have to take picture of their snakes (which is standard) but also installations? What's next pictures of the snakes on today's newspaper?

As for vet info oh yeah sure let's provide vet info to every Joe Shmoe, who will than call which will prove nothing because

A/ The vet will not tell anything about one of his client (I know mine wouldn't)
B/ Because having a vet or several on stand by does not mean people ever had to use them.

And I can only imagine how happy a vet would be to be disturbed by random callers asking for reference.

    Really? I wouldn't?

To the OP ask for pictures, ask the right SMART questions, hatch date, feeding frequency, prey type, weight of the animal, how the animal will be shipped. You can already draw conclusions from all that. How the pictures are taken can take a lot (people making effort vs people not and taking picture on dirty carpet or towel), hatch date and weight will give you a good clue as well (Obviously if the animal hatched more than a year ago and is barely 200 grams there is an issue there)

Than go to the BOI and check if the person has any type of reputation, even ask here, remember that because YOU don't know a name does not mean the person is not known, this business is a lot of word of mouth as well some breeder do not participate on forums but have a well established reputation without being big names.

Most importantly trust your gut, there are plenty of great people big and small.
