What is going on with the sunset gene?
How come not many sunset morphs are being produced? Does this gene have problems that people dont want to work with, or is it just a rare snake?

Just wait for it and the combos will come. It's a recessive gene so of course things will take longer, plus it also has a huge price tag that most people do not want to shell out for and the fact that BHB has been doing this weird secrecy thing recently with their scaleless stuff and to a lesser extent the sunsets. It's amazing how quick people are to assume that there is something wrong with a morph or combo just because they don't see much of it. It took like 10 years to prove out just because of the circumstances around it and Brian's "Viper" ball.

If you do some research you can see that there are many hets floating around in people's collections and on the "higher" end tables at shows.

Just be patient. As Raphy said, and I para-phrase, people need to stop demanding answers for things that they aren't even buying into what is considered a high-end morph. Breeding isn't an over-night thing. It takes years for things to get going.

Our friends just hatched out a sunset. Check out Royal Authority on Facebook.

You do realise that the sunset is recessive and that it is still very new and only het sunset were first released at $50000 which kind of limit the number of people that will get into the project.

Recessive projects take time but no there are no issues.

My sunsets are doing great. I have a female sunset who eats so agressive that she often kills hanging outside the tub. And she is a little sweetheart when it comes to holding her. My three females are growing great. They are at least a year from breeding though. The male is breeding size and I've been pairing him but have never seen a lock. I hope he's sneak breeding and will surprise me!

Please upload pictures! I'd love to see some sunsets, as I've only seen a few floating around the internet.

Ah, perhaps I misspoke. I only have Het Sunsets. Male Pastel Het Sunset, two Het Sunset females, and a Cinnamon Pinstripe Het Sunset.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your breeding group? I would love to start saving up for this, and I am wondering how much to save.

The market has changed way too much since I bought mine. You wouldn't pay anywhere near what I paid if you bought them today. I couldn't steer you in the right direction as to current costs. Brock Wagner, Winston Smith could point you in the right direction.
