Two ball pythons in the same egg
This is fairly common from my knowledge, however I am unsure how to proceed. I noticed two heads in the same egg after I had cut the egg, and the snakes are now nearing the final stages (they have absorbed the remaining vascularity from the shell and are close to absorbing their yolk) which has left me a bit worried.
I can tell that one of the snakes is entirely separate from the other (they aren't a two-headed snake) as I can identify where its body is entirely, however the snake I can identify is fairly large in the stomach (it could just be because it's on top, not sure yet). But now I'm worried that the two may be sharing the same yolk. If that is the case, how should I proceed if it does come to that? Should I remove the snakes from the egg and check (reluctant to do so, as I know that can lead to issues and I can see the one snake is close to absorbing the yolk, but not enough so that I would feel comfortable doing that)? If it does come to them sharing the yolk, will they separate on their own, or will I need to worry about separating them?
Re: Two ball pythons in the same egg
That's what I intended on until I had more information. I'm kind of paranoid at the moment about the likelihood of them sharing a yolk. I suppose I'll have to wait and see, but if they do I wonder if I'll need to separate them or something.
Re: Two ball pythons in the same egg
From my reading of the literature on twins its reasonably unlikely that they share the yolk but ether way wait till they exit the egg. That said though it is possible. Bearing in mind I am no expert in reptile breeding just based on my curiosity and a drunken pondering that led to me to spend time reading about it. Leaving drunk notes to look stuff up while sober has some interesting results - including knowing more than I expected about twins and the diet of different countries badger population.
Edit: and yes I am drunk as I write this, my excuse is bad/stressful job and family issues.

Glad to hear my drunken thoughts made you laugh.
Re: Two ball pythons in the same egg
Welp, they finally came out of the egg. One is about normal size, if a bit small, but its stomach is huge. The other is tiny compared to the rest of the snakes. Not sure if they are bright lessers, or lesser pastels as they still have that nice purple-y hue of just coming out of the egg, but not the insanely bright colors of my 2 lesser pastels.

Can't wait to see pictures of the twins :)
