Is she a Normal, or something else?
Good day, I just want to ask something very annoying for some.

I had this female normal BP, with yellowish undersides like an Enchi, but she has patterns of a Normal. I compared her to my adult male normal but he has a normal looking white and brown/black undersides.

Question : Is there something more than just a normal gene in her? I cannot contact the man who sold her to me. Thanks.

There are lots of people that could identify it for you but a picture would go a long way.

Heres a link to help you out.

they're both Normals. there is variation in Normals - between the pattern (alien heads vs. reduced), colors (dark vs. light), bellies (speckling vs. creamy, white), etc.

it's actually more so that folks might think there is more to your male rather thatn your female. like he may be het for Pied (clean belly, speckling beginning at the tail/vent) but this of course will need to be proven.

i second the het on the male it is a possibility he is het something clear belly's do happen a lot in hets tho he could be just a clear belly normal too

    Thanks :)
Oh ? I assumed my female has the odds. Yes my male has few alien heads starting from his head to few more inches, then starting to have reduced pattern. Wide, clear belly and few specks before his vent. Thanks because once my female is old enough, I'll introduce her to my male.

    Additional pics :)
His vent has a large mark, which is only today that I noticed , since I don't have an idea about het marks. You can see that he also have some specks in front of my thumb. So your verdict, guys, is a het male? okay I'll try my best to had it proven. Thanks !

    Hello,

The marks and specks you are asking about are just normal variable pattern marks. The 'markers' people are probably mentioning are usually called 'train tracks' and it's where the belly is clear and then, usually near the tail, there are lines of black on each side (see photo below where I circled it). It doesn't mean it is a het but it's a marker that is seen in a lot of hets (some hets have it, some don't; some normal have it, some don't).

Patterns and coloration are quite variable. I posted a thread trying to show some of that variation here:

    Good luck with your pythons!

visual indicators doesn't guarantee your animal being het Pied (or anything). as April mentioned, some Normals that are not het have the visual indicators and some don't. some het Pied animals have the indicators and some don't. i just mentioned your boy looking possibly having something else going on visually as compared to your girl who has nothing noteworthy. your best bet would be trusting your breeder and knowing the pairing/genetics that produced your animal.

if u really want to, u could still try to prove him out. u just have to pair him with a female that is a visual Pied or a 100% het Pied for the best odds. even then u might still get Normals that are at least 50% het Pied.
