HELP! Ball Python Has Long Brownish/Red Mark Down His Belly!
My ball python is about 10 months old. He eats fine every 5 days and is very active at night. I noticed this brown line on the underside of my ball python and am really worried. I dont think it is a burn because the UTH i use is not that hot i feel like its impossible for him to get burned on it. Its more warm than hot. The line starts about 1/4 down his body leaving the top quarter completely fine and white. Could this be scale rot? I really want to know the best precautions i should take about this matter as i am very worried. Any feedback is greatly appreciated thanks!http://pasteboard.co/4LttChoPN.jpg

I am not an expert, but that definitely looks like rot to me.
here's a thread from a while back, hope it helps

or maybe its not rot at all - like i said, not an expert, but better safe than sorry.

I think it's a burn. Is there something controlling the UTH temperature? It can feel warm to you but still be burning the snake.

Welcome to the world of snake burns.
What is the EXACT temperature of your UTH on the glass UNDER the substrate?
You are warm blooded so how it feels to you is irrelevant.
Unplug your UTH until you can regulate it correctly.

Took this girl from someone who couldn't fix their problems.
This scar is a couple years later still kicking myself for not taking photos when I got her.

Yeah that's a burn. Unplug the UTH until you get a thermostat.

I can't see the pictures for some reason, but everyone else is saying burn. I have been treating a burned snake I got from someone. You might want to look at my thread. I don't know how to link it on tapatalk, but you should be able to click on my name and find it. I got lots of great help, and it should help you to.

My treatment worked extremely well, but if the burn smells, is oozing a lot, is worse than the picture of my snake below, or you aren't confident treating him, I would take him to the vet immediately. Honestly I would do that anyway to be safe. I have a bunch of leftover sulfadiazine cream, so if you need any just pm me.

Here is what my snake's burn looked like:

Dimmer or thermostat are what control an UTH.
Did you look at the photos I posted?
