Tub Size for Adult BPs in Rack System
Hi all! I'm new to posting, but have been a lurker here and there. I currently have 3 ball pythons, each in their own tank. I would like to add a few more to my collection, but I'm running out of square footage available for more tanks in my small home. I've decided to go with a rack system, and have been looking into options for a week now. Recently, there was a 5 tub rack listed for sale on a herping FB page. The dimensions of the tubs are: 27" X 15.5" X 6". It's being offered for a great price, but the tubs seem like they may be a tad small for adult BPs. Am I off-base with that, or will a BP thrive in something like that? Any guidance is appreciated! Thank you!
Re: Tub Size for Adult BPs in Rack System
It sounds like those are appropriate sized tubs. They might be 32qt. My racks fit 28qt tubs that measure approximately 23"x16"x4". From what I've researched 500-2000 gram males and females will do well in 28qt or 32qt tubs, and then females 2000+ should go into 41qt tubs.
Edit: Those dimensions convert to 43.7 qts entered into Google volume calculator. Given tubs aren't perfectly rectangular, those are most likely 41qt.

I also have an ars7030 They are about 33L X 5.25H X 17W that is about a 41qt tub. I keep all mine in there. The smaller ones I just clutter up the tub more until they get bigger. My big female has plenty of room. Once they hit about 5-800g I don't use hides.

I use the #1655 Sterilite 28qt tubs for most of the racks I build. They work well with the smaller footprint and the sub adult female snakes have enough room to be comfortable. Males are fine in them. For the larger BPs I use the 41qt model. Essentially it's a C70 clone.

I use 32 quarts for males and females up to 2000 grams and v70 for females above 2000 grams.

I keep all my BPs ranging from 3000g adult to 130g hatchling in 41qt tubs measuring 35"x16"x6". Anything bigger than 2000g needs to be in one that size.

Thanks everyone! That gives me a lot more perspective as I search for an appropriate rack system. It's been a confusing and slightly overwhelming project, mostly because of my angst over tub sizes, so your input is GREATLY appreciated! :)

I have question on the females reaching 2000 grams? How long does it on average with normal feeding too reach that weight? Iam looking to get c serpents 3 tub sub-adult rack which uses 28qt tubs. I have nothing over 300 grams

It's variable depends on the animal and feeding frequency, fast etc, I have female that reached that weight at 18 months and some that are 4 years not there yet.
