Family had a laugh last night
Last week I was wandering around the local pet shop and they had small stainless water bowls on clearance. Nice wide base. Bigger than what I currently have in my young Pewter's setup so I picked a couple up.
This guy has always been very active at night and if there is noise in the room will typically stick his head out from his hide to see what's going on.
Last night we were getting ready for bed and my wife commented that he was out roaming. Maybe 20 minutes later I wandered past his tank to look and almost missed it. Should have taken a photo.
I noticed his water bowl was tipped up a bit. Odd I thought. Until I took a closer look and saw that he had burrowed into the substrate and slithered under the bowl.
It is a stamped bowl so there is a space underneath and he had gotten himself almost all in there. You could see his side on the raised side of the bowl.
When he does it again, as I'm sure he will, I will try and get a photo.
Now I know why the substrate has been wet under the bowl when I give him fresh water. He is spilling. :)

    lol u finally caught him!

i love it when they burrow. my Elphaba used to burrow at alot when she was a baby. she would burrow under her water dish also. here's she going into a hide and burrowing out the other end.

she's too big to burrow underneath 1/4-1/2inch of substrate these days lol.

i also bought this water dish for my girl Yackle. it has two openings.

it's kinda hard to see, but here is as a baby scooting around on the inside perimeter of the water bowl.

I bought bowls like that also and cut arches in them so it doubled as a hide as well as water bowl. I don't use them anymore as I have a different rack and they are just too big to fit under them anymore.

My butter pastel Jeffrey does this too. First time he did I was frantic thinking he has escaped. Blamed he hubby blamed the kids, I even ventured into garden at 11pm with a flashlight stupidly whisper calling him hahaha xx

Well, it seems to be a regular thing now.
I went in to give everyone fresh water and check things out and he was under his bowl.
Took a peek before bed and he was back under it. Guess he has a new favorite place to hide.
