the kids and i are steaming!

ooooh noooo the air conditioning is broken :( ... which yeah, might not sound so bad to some of you but it's 90 degrees here during the day right now and i live in a third floor apartment with vaulted ceilings (aka insane heat traps). i had the maintenance guy come out yesterday and take a look at it because it didn't seem to be cooling much and he replaced some wiring and cleaned it out and whatnot, but now...nothing. my poor geckos are going to fry. i'm going to have to set up a fan and lay cool washcloths across their steamy little foreheads. :sick:

Oh no, that's terrible. It's so miserable when you're hot and can't cool down. Maybe you can all sit in front of the refrigerator with the door open!!! Good luck getting the a/c back up!

that sucks.. Maybe try and build a make shift swamp cooler? a fan and a cool mist humidifier could help considerably depending on the size of the room your kids are in

I feel for ya! Mine gave out on me too, and I know it's steamier in Savannah than up here in Atlanta. Thank goodness the temp's gone down into the 60's!

I LOVE swamp coolers! LOL.. Never seen one till I moved to AZ and was goin to trade school.... they had them everywhere. I actaully perfer them over A/C :)

Our house doesnt have "refrigerated air" we have a swamp cooler.

Like Andariel ive never seen one until i moved here to NM.

They are pretty ghetto and you have to have windows open for them to work (wierd right?) but our house stays nice and cool even when its 106 outside like it was a few days ago so its allllll good :) :)

They dont have to be ghetto..and alot you dont have to have the window open a lot large rodent operations use swamp coolers instead of air because its much cheaper to run

Don't swamp coolers only work if the humidity is low? Just curious.

they work better if the humidity is lower but I have seen them lower green house temps as much as 15-20 degrees in 80-95% humidity
My home has humidity in the range of around 20-30% even though out side the humidity may be as high as 85%

Wow! That's pretty impressive. I've only heard about them from my uncle who lives in AZ, so I was thinking they must only work out there in the desert. Thanks for answering my question.
