    New Rattie Baby
Here are a few pictures of my new baby girl. She was brought in with her mother and siblings to the Waco Humane Society and was taken to a rescuer's house(who rescues birds of prey-owls, hawks, etc.). I contacted the rescuer and went to her house where she was keeping these rats in a 10-gallon tank OUTSIDE in the 99 DEGREE WEATHER! They had no shade and were very hot. I rescued this single girl because I really don't have anymore room at the moment, plus I don't want to jeopardize the health of my existing animals.

She is a Black(maybe charcoal) Capped Blazed Dumbo Rex, and is TO DIE FOR! :) In other words, she is adorable as all get out. She is going to get a fecal done tomorrow, but otherwise is in tip top shape. Haven't heard any sneezes at all and no discharge from eyes or nose.

    Here she is:

Hope ya'll like them, she should integrate into the "zoo" quite nicely. :)

Congrats on the new addition! She's so sweet. :aww: Do you have an estimate on her age? Good luck with the fecal, and hopefully she'll be given a clean bill of health!

Oh she's cute Becky but I should have put money on this! LOL I seem to remember a conversation with you the night before you started at the Humane Society where I said "now don't go bringing everything home the first day or two!". :P

I wouldn't have been able to resist either.

Congrats on the new rattie family member!

Christie, I was told by a breeder that she should be around 8 weeks old(I sent her pictures of the baby). She seems younger than that though, but maybe she's just tiny.

I hope she comes out clean too, and I will be checking everyone else while I'm at it. I doubt anyone else has anything, but you never know what they may have gotten into. Thanks for the compliments, I hope she turns out to be a fat, squishy, sweet girlie rat :) She's a pig about eating that's for sure.

:Aww: She's just a baby then. I was thinking a little older, but I was obviously wrong. She just seemed bigger in the pics. I'm sure you'll have your fat, squishy, sweet girl in no time atall! (I love your description!) I'm glad to hear she's eating well, and make sure to post pics when she's all squishy!!! :D

I think I'm going to name her Amelia after Amelia Earhardt, since her ears are big enough to fly. :)

I think that's a perfect name for her!

Those are some durned big ears!
I would estimate her age around 5-6 weeks. I have some that are 7 weeks now, and they seem to be a bit larger than her.
