    Today is World Turtle Day!
I got this from an email sent out by the Chicago Herp Society.I thought I'd spread the word.

World Turtle Day is Now. 5/23 So Celebrate. Save a turtle

And you can do that by simply buying something at www.HerpArts.com.
HerpArts.com will then donate 10% of your purchase to the "GREAT
WALL OF WHALE BEACH PROJECT" run by Dr. Roger Wood and his students
at the Wetlands Institute at Stone Harbor near Cape May, NJ.

Last summer, the ¼-mile-long silt fence (the "Great Wall") built by
Dr. Wood's students along a busy road stopped a huge number of
terrapins from crossing that road during nesting season and getting
run over by cars and trucks. THE NUMBER OF TURTLES KILLED ON THE
ROAD IN THE SUMMER OF 2004 WAS JUST 1/3 OF THOSE KILLED THE PREVIOUS
    YEAR!

AND THIS YEAR THEY WANT TO EXTEND THE LENGTH OF THE FENCE.

To read more about the project, click:
    http://www.terrapinconservation.org.
Then Under Terrapin Journal, Summer 2004, read the article
entitled "In the Trenches" by Ben Atkinson

So enjoy. Buy yourself or a friend a gift, (it doesn't have to be
of a turtle) and you'll automatically be giving a turtle a gift, a
    gift of life.

CHECK OUT OUR NEW TURTLE T-SHIRTS AND TURTLE DIPLOMAS.

THIS OFFER IS ONLY GOOD TODAY

You can also donate directly to terrapin conservation on their site.
