Respritory Illness Help??
Hey guys,
I posted here a couple of weeks ago in regards to my BP who was displaying early signs of an RI and he has not improved.
It started with him having some bubbly mucus in his mouth. I came here for advice and learned his cage was too hot. I got a thermostat to regulate it and it's going well. I took him to a vet who recommended I keep an eye on him for now.
He has continued to have bubbly mucus but because that was all, I left it alone. As of last night I have noticed him tilting his head back and slightly opening his mouth to help him breathe. When you push up his throat a little bubblesmwill come out of his mouth, and today a teeny bit came from his nose. Obviously he is not well :(
My vet is out of town until tuesday. Does antone have any links to home remedies that I could start today? I've seen one that looked good but required me to order things online. I just want to help make him well.
He also appears to be getting ready to shed, eyes are blue and skin is pinkish. Of couse all the weeks my vet could be on vacation it's when I need him :(

I'll get dissed for this, but it worked for me. Need 2 tubs, 1 small tub with air holes big enough for snake to fit in. 2nd tub with no holes and air tight. Boil a cup of water after pouring into container add 1/2 teaspoon vapo rub and 3-5 drops eucalyptus oil. Put snake in small tub and place lid on it. Put that tub into bigger tub. Put bowl of mixture in big tub. Close lid. Check after 5-7 minutes. Put lid back on. Remove snake after an additional 7-10 minutes. Repeat again in 24-48 hours.

Respiratory illnesses are very dangerous for the animal and any other animals in close proximity. The prudent thing to do is to quarantine the sick snake away from any others and put him on paper towels in a clean, disinfected enclosure. Make a emergency appointment with the available exotic vet. Boost the ambient temperature a few degrees to help with stimulating the snakes immune system but if he is producing mucus and bubbling at the mouth and nose the infection is advanced and he needs a culture of the secretions and a antibiotic treatment plan.

Both vapo rub and eucalyptus oil can be dangerous to reptiles.
My vet told me that if I want to nebulize to offer relief then sterile saline or just plain water would be the best option. Think of it like when you are congested and you take a hot, steamy shower - you clear out your sinuses and feel better.
Note this doesn't help fight the illness, just the symptom of being congested.

F10 SC I was told is usable also. Thanks for not calling me a total idiot.
