What do you look for when considering a first time breeding female
    Hi everyone,

With me getting everything ready for next season potentially being my first breeding season I was wondering what everyone looks for in a female when considering her for breeding for the first time and also how you start to feed them for breeding (if you change your schedule at all)

I have a cb14 female who will be going into her 3rd winter and is currently sitting just shy of 1200g with a good feeding response being fed on a 7-10 day schedule and I'm thinking that I could potentially pair her this coming season

    Thanks for reading :)

    Hi,

Body condition is the main thing I like to see. Nice muscle tone and plenty of strength in it.

I also like to wait until they are over 1500g if possible - letting her get an extra years size on her isn't a bad thing as it will also generally result in a larger clutch with fewer problems getting back to a healthy state afterwards.
