Cypress Mulch vs. Coconut Husk or Fiber

I'm planning on getting a 40 gallon breeder aquarium and rescuing an adult ball python. Due to it being an aquarium, I plan on wrapping most of the screen top with either aluminum foil or plastic wrap (probably the later). However, to avoid the blunt of humidity issues, I was planning on using a substrate that holds humidity well, either a Cypress mulch or Coconut based. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should use? And which is better, Coco Husk or Coco Fiber?

Get a UTH and thermostat, put it on the bottom right side with a hide over it, water bowl in the middle, identical hide on the left. Aspen worked well for me in my tanks with that setup. No lights, no foil, no CHE.

Really? Thanks! I may try that. I like the idea of not worrying about the foil. The water bowl I'd presume would keep the humidity up?

Also, do you have an UTH you'd recommend? I've heard good things about Fluker's and UltraTherm, but the most common ones I see around here are zoomed. The tank would be 36" x 18" so it would probably need to be roughly 12" x 12" I'd presume

In theory it does, could just be the humidity in my house keeping it ambient (I'm in Missouri and it's humid most the year) but it stays about 55-57% and I've never had shed issues. I switched to rack systems and it's made it much easier but after you perfect nailing down tanks it's not a big deal.

Zoomed makes a just fine uth in my experience. I recommend a herpstat from Spyder Robotics. I know the VE 200 is also popular and gets rave reviews.
