Head won't shed

Like title says. Everything has shed but her head. I think she has eye caps still too.

Hi, I recently got a ball python from some people. When they gave her to me they said she just got done shedding but I noticed her head shed and eye caps were still on... I heard that wasn't good and to soak her in the tub so I did. Then I took a q-tip and gently rubbed it to come off and I managed to get it off and one eye cap I believe. The other is still on and both her eyes are still blue... What do I do and what does it mean? Can I leave the eye cap on and just let it come off. Is her eyes being blue still something I should worry about?

A soak and run through a moist towel works for me. My little guy had a stuck shed not long ago and he let me rub his head to get it off, suprised me but he wanted it off.

I soaked her and used a qtip. Great results!! Took a bit of time but got it all off. She let me get most of it. But didn't like when I pulled the skin from bottom of her mouth.

This is dangerous. You can seriously damage their eyes with this method, and even remove the eye lens. It's happened before to someone on this Forum.

I try the towel method but it wasn't working. She would just pull away, or slide through it with no results

I wet the qtip too and gently peeled back the eye caps. I can see how that could cause harm but I feel like leaving the shed is worse?

When I find that thread about the person who pulled their snake's lenses off, I'll post it. After you read that thread I doubt you'll ever mess with eye caps again.

When it comes to a stuck eye cap I will try a soak and gentle run through a towel. If that doesn't work I just wait until the next shed and make sure that the humidity is sky high from blue to shed and then a good overall shed fixes the problem. Leaving a stuck eye cap for a shed cycle is safer in my mind than trying to pry one off. Sometimes it can be really hard to know if there truly is a stuck eye cap or if you are just yanking off the actual ocular scale.

My stuck eye cap remedy :)

Step 1: find a container with a lid that the snake can fit comfortably in. Drill holes in the lid and remove jagged edges.

Step 2: fill it with spagnum moss (if you have it or can get it) and warm water.

Step 3: insert snake and put the lid on. As condensation builds, your snake should rub their face on the sides and after some time should work the caps off on their own without injuring themselves.

This method has been a life saver with some of my pick ups and rescues!
