Sucked in tail on picky eater: Ovulation? Underweight? Something else?
Had a bit of a scare tonight. My lesser female escaped! She was located about 4 feet away from her tub behind the table. She hasn't been eating and has been super crabby lately so I haven't been handling her. When I scooped her up to put her back I noticed something weird. It looked like she had a little kink in the tip of her tail and her bottom half was sucked in pretty far.

So what am I looking at here? She was bred and locked with a male last winter by her previous owner who said nothing came of it. I've only gotten her to eat 1 large mouse for me in 6 weeks or so and she went through a bit of a fast over the winter I was told. She could have been out of her tub close to 48 hours.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I"m no good judge of ovulation, but I am glad you found her! See if she starts curling up on the hot side and get the incubator ready just in case. :)

Looks like a classic case of "tail suck". She's gravid, get an incubator and hatchling rack ready if you don't have them.

Thank you. That's what I was afraid of.

Am I allowed to panic now?

If you're on any Facebook reptile-related groups for your state, post a WTB ad for an incubator.

If you don't think you're ready for that yet someone local may incubate them for you.

Ok. On the hunt for an incubator. Will be picking one up when I get paid next friday.

So I should expect eggs mid August or so?
