Breeding weights?

Hey folks!

Whats a good breeding weight for a male BP, and for a female? And do you think 1 year old (if they are the right weight) is too young?

What do you mean by the right weight? 1500g is the minimum for females, but it just depends on how they are proportioned. If they are a long and skinny 1500g, it is better to wait. If they are a short and stocky 1500g, then it might be possible to breed her.

Females aren't going to be anywhere near the right weight at 1 year of age, no way no how. I would stick with at LEAST 2 years old, with older being better. There's no reason to rush and have the risk of the female being too small, stressing her body out, and resulting in her producing slugs.

I'm definately not a breeder, and I only have 1 snake(will have two soon), but why are you wanting to rush into things? Take it nice and slow, grow the female up to the correct size and age. 2500-3500g would produce much better, plus, their body would be fully developed and able to take the stress put upon them like producing eggs does.

I think a male "can" breed by 700g or so, but they may not fertilize the ova well, if at all(although I've heard about those spider males going after it). I could be wrong though! LoL

That's just my opinion though. Do you have any females yet?
