    Humidity question.
Hi! Just a quick humidity question - I rescued my snake last Saturday and due to the new moist bedding and larger water dish, her humidity has stayed around 65-75 (with no misting) until this morning when it was at 60. I did a quick mist (I was told to mist in the am so it dries by night and no mold forms,) but it's at 50 now, and that's the lowest it should go.... and it's only 3:30 pm. Is it ok for the habitat to dry out as they day goes on and then I mist in the mornings? Is below 50 in the afternoon/evening ok?
I have a dial hygrometer on the cold side, since the hot side dries out faster. (All her thermometers are digital though.)

You can mistake at any time throughout the day. Your temperature shouldn't change that much throughout the day and night that it would make much of a difference when you mist.
50% is fine though. If your dropping much below that then consider a mist or add some other humidity aids like another water bowl on the hot side or different substrate or Moss.
    Good Luck

Ok thanks. Her Temps should stay within a few degrees all day and night now that I have them sorted. I will just mist more if needed and maybe move her bowl over a bit.

I'm going to grab a digital hygrometer. Where should the probe be set?

You want to check humidity near the bottom since that's where your snake is so hang it off the ground a few inches. Just make sure you don't hang it with tape or anything sticky that can stick to your snake.

To be honest I run between 45%-50% unless it's time for shed. Then I throw a little sphagnum moss in there and bump it to around 60% and get perfect sheds. If it happens to drop below the 50% mark a hair trust me it's not the end of the world. [emoji3]

    Curious what substrate you're using?

Hygrometer probe placement is going to differ from person to person. Mine is about 3 inches off the bottom at the back in the middle but i dont think theres really an accurate way to measure ambient humidity or temperature because it differs from the hot to cold side quite a bit so I keep my probe half way between the hottest part and the coldest part (33c to 26c) so where my viv is about 29.5c is where I put my probe.
