heating choices...

i have read for hours on different options for thermostats, and in my search I have come across one that I have not heard many talk about and that is the herpkeeper by digital aquatics. anyone have one? experiances?

I have never heard of them till now but the spyder robotics Herpstat is a really good choice and make models cheaper and around the same price, models that can heat anywhere from 1 to 6 different setups. Herpstat is the most recommended I would say. The herpkeeper is on/off and herpstats are proportional meaning it will keep a constant temp instead of dropping and heating again.

If your using a bulb you can't use a pulse thermostat you have to get a dimming thermostat.
Any thermostat is better than no thermostat so just go for the best in your price range

Thanks guys! I was in to reef tanks once upon a time and the DA stuff was very desirable.. i have looked into the herostat as well. Just wanted opinions on the other. Herpstat it is..!

If your going with Herpstat I would get the Herpstat 1 or higher higher model bc the Herpstat basic and Herpstat intro do not have the safety relay, I'm sure they still are great but the added security is nice. The into+ does but I'm not sure what features are left out, you may not even need the features that they into + doesn't have. I personally like the table top design of the Herpstat 1 and higher models, the intro I think is more designed to be built into a rack or stand but would still function like any of the other models.

For me I have some larger enclosures so I use home stile thermostats with Bluetooth capable programming. They also let me know if the temp gets to low or high. Combine that with a 12 volt transformer and relay heating circuit like for your home that you can make for about 15 to 25 dollars and there is no real limit to the amount of wattage that you can use.
