    I frigging love my snakes.
I just want to say how much I love having my ball pythons. They are so - therapeutic! I mean I love my dogs, rats, fish, lizards and spiders - but nothing has been as purely relaxing to me as having these slithering girls around.

Not sure what it is. But I swear I feel a million times better just from the few mins of handling them when I need to move them to spot clean or change their dishes.

Just wanted to share that :)

I feel the same. It was the tranquility, beauty and grace that got me hooked.

I feel the same way about all of my herps! If I'm feeling really agitated or upset, sometimes I'll just go into the herp room and handle until I feel better. Even the most difficult of my herps to handle can calm me down and ground me in a way that my other pets don't. Fantastic free therapy!

Agreed! Every time I handle my snakes it is such a nice opportunity to be quiet and mindful. Very calming, indeed.

    Such a sweet post <3

I find having a ball python has taught me the virtue of patience. We have a routine, I turn out her lights and open the door then I will wait for her to come out of hiding to be handled. Once she's out, I wait again for her to position herself in a way I can pick her up from the back. Sometimes this takes up to an hour but I am so peaceful during the time and just let her do her thing until she's ready to come out.

Oh, totally this. Yigg lives is life on a much slower scale than all my other critters, the geckos included, so it's been a real exercise in restraint slowing myself down to his speed.
