My Ball Python was swallowing, then it stopped.
    Hello,
This is the first time i have ever owned a Ball Python, he is a male Pastel almost 2 years old. The previous owner was feeding him mouses and hamsters (mostly hamsters) so I fed him for the first time a hamster that was a tiny bit bigger than the thickest part of his body. Everything was going smoothly and he was swallowing when i left him, when i came back he seemed like he gave up trying to eat it and was slithering around. Why didn't he swallow? The first thing that comes to my mind is that the hamster might have been too big for him. Is he going to try to eat it later or should just feed him a smaller one next time?

I would get him off of hamsters and on to rats asap but being how old he is it's probably to late but worth a try.

I'm assuming the hamsters is dead right? Stupid question but you never know. If so heat the head for a minute with a hair dryer and then offer again with feeding tongs and see if he takes it.

Unless the animal was disturbed I believe you have the answer in your question already. :gj:

Switch it over to rats, mice, or ASFs
