I am a worry wart... (RI?)
Hi! Me again, I know, I'm sorry for probably getting on ya all nerves already... :S Bear with me please... OTL
Since (I think) today my BP sometimes makes a small wheezing noise, just a very very faint whistling every now and then (I observed him for about an hour, heard it four or five times, barely audible). I assume him to be in shed (eyes had fogged up a few days back, but he's in the clearing up part now I think, skin is a bit loose-ish and eyes look more clear now. Scale colours muted.), so I didn't think much of it, until I saw him yawn and heard one tiny popping noise. I've seen him yawn twice within that hour, but the popping happened only that one first time. Saw him periscope once for a long moment at like 45° whilst exploring. Around his snout the skin is a tiny bit fuzzy and frayed, like the skin splinters we sometimes have at our nails, but no "hoodie" cap or anything.
Sooo.... Basically, I was very anxious that it is early RI. So I took him out and had a look at the mouth. I kept that session as short as possible especially since he seems to be in shed, but I'm afraid it was a bit stressful ― I had to secure his head after all! Anyhow. There are no bubbles at the lips/gums, none to either side of the trachea, none in the nasal cavity. All clean and pink. I did spot two bubbles at the far back of the throat, but they didn't seem slimy or anything, just two small clear bubbles like those we also have in our spit. I think it's normal saliva, sure looked like it?
I still think the whistling could be shed related, but it's that in combination with the popping and yawn that worries me. Temps are at 82° to 91° (most of the hot side is at 88-89°, but the warm hide where he is most of the time is at roughly 91-92°, I can't bump temp more. Cold side moves between 79° and 85°), and humidity at 70%.
I plan on taking him to a reptile vet soon as possible for a general check-up, but since I am 100% dependent on someone driving me and it's very busy atm, that probably won't happen until late in the next week...
Thoughts maybe? Can I rest easy? Panic time? Is next week Wednesday/Friday worryingly late if it's still a very early RI as of today, or is that still acceptable?
