Separating Ball Pythons that have been housed in same habitat

Okay so I'm new to all this and constantly read up on allot of stuff whether out of curiosity or just to maintain safety on my Ball Python's but couldn't find an answer to my following questions. About a month ago I bought a 1.0 Bumble Bee and a 0.1 Pastel that have been housed together for the past 2 years. From what I've read they shouldn't be housed together so I'm going to build a rack system and separate them but will that affect them at all considering they've been together for 2 years? Also I know the 0.1 pastel isnt breeding size yet which is why Im in a hurry to build a rack so they don't breed before they're ready but is there possibly something wrong with one of them being that they haven't tried in the 2 years they've been together? Thanks in advance for everyone's help, and I apologize if I should have posted this in another section. Wasn't sure where exactly it belonged.

Separate them asap IMO. I don't think it will hurt anything but will actually help. Bps should only be housed together for breeding purposes and being the female is not breeding size she should not be anywhere near a male. If they did end up breeding it could be very harmful to the female.

If they have been sharing housing for 2 years she's getting very close to breeding size. I would have a temporary tub set up for one of them today.

I have a tub I could put one in but not another heat source, should I wait until I get another heat source or is it safer to separate them and get a heat source within 24 hours of the separation.

Your going to have to try and keep it in the mid 80s. If you can't, I don't believe im about to say this but they have been together for 2 years so I guess 1 more day shouldn't hurt. Just make sure you get another heat source and thermostat or dimmer ASAP so you can separate them.

Make sure you get a big enough tub for an adult ball. Also will need hides, substrate, water bowl, and like I said above make sure you get another thermostat or dimmer to control the temp on the new heat source.

What size tubs would you recommend? I've seen people say 41qt for adult females 28qt for adult males then people just say 41qt for both. Then I read 28qt is fine until they hit their 2,000g weight mark. I have a pretty big tub my Lesser came in, idk how many qts it is though. One more thing, whats the best substrate in your opinion to use? Im using wood chips right now in tanks\aquariums.Thanks BTW guys you all are extremely helpful.

How big was the enclosure it was housed in with the other snake? I would personally get a 41qt for an adult, a 41qt is around 35"x17"x6". You can use the same substrate you were for your tanks or switch to paper towels or aspen if you can maintain humidity, anything you can use in a tank you can use in a tub.

Their in a 20 long tank, if I use paper towels how do you maintain humidity?

Easiest way is water dish next to/ over the heat source.
