    real tree branches?
would it be a problem to put real tree branches in a tank, i was thinking about making decorations my self as i am a big diyer, so what are the draw backs from putting real branches and stuff in there?

this may be a stupid question as i know the snakes live out in the wild and they seem to do fine there, just curious because i dont see many with the real stuff in there...

    thanks,

It's perfectly fine. Avoid pine and other evergreens. If you have any concern about bugs you can either let them air dry for a few weeks or bake them on a low heat in the oven, but it's optional - there's no chance of bringing in snake mites or anything like that.

Snake mites aren't native to North America and the nymphs only have a window of a few days to find a reptile host, so you'd have to gather material somewhere that an infested escapee snake has very recently rested. Not impossible I guess (particularly in Florida!), but chances are slim, Slim. :P

IMO you should sterilizate anything you put into a reptile enclosure whether it is bought in a store or from outside. Mites are not the only thing you need to worry about!!!!!
