    Is this normal ???
This is twice in a week I've seen ziggy burrow underneath his substrate. Is this normal ? Is something wrong ? Substrate is about 1/2 in deep if it matters. Didn't really see the need for putting in anymore than that. Thanks guys and gals. https://vimeo.com/169809136

The file doesn't load for me (low data), but how are your temperatures? If you use an UTH, the surface beneath the substrate will be hotter than the top of the substrate. If temperatures are too low the snake might be seeking heat?

No UTH. He's going to the cold side though. It's currently 80 on the cool side and 92 on the hot side his hide is more to the hot side. Water dishes on the cool side. Humidity is at 65 percent

I've recently (about 2-3 weeks ago) put my female royal in a 2ft vivarium with lignocel and I've already seen her burrowing 3 or so times only on the cold side.

I would say it's normal and they probably like to cruise around under there without no one watching them lol.

Here she is.. too cute not to share😊

Your snake might do less burrowing if you provide two hides that give it a sense security. Those half log hides are usually the first thing to go in the trash once you learn a little about BP husbandry.

Exactly this ^^^ I've used the half logs and my snakes never went in them. A cheap highly recommended option are the reptile basics hides. Don't get anything smaller then the medium, the smaller ones are tiny. Your snake looks like it would be good in the mediums. If you buy them get 2, one for hot and one for cool that way your snake can't play favorites and will regulate body temp correctly. They are very dark and secure and tons of people use them bc they are cheap but provide the necessary security for your snake. Plus they make a variety of sizes so you can buy bigger ones as your bp grows. I won't ever own any other kind of hide.

Here is the link if you wanna check them out.
