Power outage: should I worry?
Hey all!
Been browsing your site for years, but never joined until now.
Just had a question about a current power outage I'm in. I've only lost power maybe an hour ago, and they have an estimated time of restoration of about an hour from now. I guess my question is, if there can really be much harm in letting my ball pythons enclosure temp fall for a couple of hours, and if they don't get the power turned on when expected, when should I begin to worry? The house is 72 degrees right now, and I have all but one side of her tub covered with a blanket. Should I give her some warm water? Or try to heat the enclosure in anyway? I know dropping down to 60 degrees can be detrimental to their health, but it's not quite that low. Just don't see it warming up either cause it's a cold, rainy day in Michigan right now. Let me know what you think. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Re: Power outage: should I worry?
I don't think two hours at 72°F will cause damage, but I'm Not vouching for that :S word from someone else there?
If in doubt you could try putting a warm water bag (is that what they're called? Those plastic bottle thingies you put on your tummy when you're sick) where the heat pad goes? Just make sure it isn't TOO hot

I wouldn't worry about it - the tub(s) shouldn't cool down to room temperature instantly, especially covered with a blanket.
