Expecting!

I have a female that is due to lay on the 13th, I think. She has been off feed for about 2 and-a-half months and went through her pre lay shed. My incubator is set up at a temp of 89-90 degrees and 98-100% humidity. I have not yet set up the vermiculite, and don't know when to put that in. I have been waiting because I don't want the mixture to get moldy before I put the eggs in. When is the best time to make that mixture?

I'd set it up as soon as you can. It shouldn't mold, the mold is usually from bad eggs. Most people set it up at least 2 weeks before expecting eggs, I do a month before. That way you can adjust temps and humidity as needed.

Set it up a few days before, and adjust the numbers accordingly because what's on the outside of the box may not be the same for the inside

I have to be honest, as soon the first girl had her ovulation, I prepped the incubator placed in some boxes with vermiculite and that is a wile ago now as the first clutch has hatched already and 3 more clutches are in the incubator and expecting 2 more, and all those boxes with vermiculite have been in the incubator since I prepped it, all I do is check if the substrate is still moist enough when I place the eggs in.

I set the egg boxes at the last minute when the eggs are laid, I have done that for close to 10 years now.
