How much to quarantine after touching a wild snake?
Just a quick question. Yesterday on my way into work there was a black snake sleeping in the road. I got out of my car to move it, hardly touched it, just a little tap on the back to get him moving. I sanitized immediately afterwards and washed my hands as soon as I could.

I work as a medical courier so I scrub my hands religiously throughout the day. When I got home I changes my clothes though I didn't bag them. My question is given they're such different species is there any risk of cross contamination? Should I do anything differently in the future if I'm handling wild snakes?

I have one ball python currently, so I haven't needed to worry about this much yet.

If you did all that sanitizing, it sounds to me like you're about as sanitized as you can get. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm new to snakes, but have been raising geckos for a while and quarantine the new ones. You only touched him with your hand, and that has been washed to the hilt. I think you're just fine. :)
