    Cypress mulch
I am looking at getting some to mix in - is it just the stuff you get to use in your yard?

No. Most of what is sold in farm/garden stores is the "blend", which is 10% cypress, 50% pine, and 40% "whatever we were cutting that week" when I called the manufacturer to ask what was in it. They did not recommend using it for reptiles since they couldn't guarantee there was no cedar or black walnut in it. Plus, it's usually a lot more chunky than the double-chop cypress used for bedding.

If you only have one snake then the 2 cf bag sold by Reptile Basics will last you for a very long time.

I'm curious about this one. I was looking to do the same as the cypress mix does much better with higher humidity than aspen.

There are members on here with large collections and many years experience who use the mixed cypress from Home Depot and have had no complaints.

Oh, it looks like my reply didn't go through...

I get the cypress at the petstore. Around here, garden and hardware centres only seem to sell cedar and fir mulch. If you go that route (getting it at as garden centre), always look at the bark type and make sure it's safe. Most of the time that stuff has rot, mold and bugs in it, though. I'd stick with getting the pre-treated stuff at the petstore.
