Sharing regurgitated food
Okay so one of my ball pythons regurgitated his food after like 5 minutes (idk why), and I just fed the regurgitated rat to another ball python. I want to know if this is bad or if it doesn't matter. I honestly just didn't feel like wasting the rat, but if it puts another one of my ball pythons health at risk in feeding regurgitated food to it from a different snake then I guess I'll just throw out the rat from now on.
Re: Sharing regurgitated food
It was spitted back out not regurgitated the way we mean it when we talk about snake regurgitating.
Ask yourself is it worth it to feed it to another snake? Yes there are risks involved let's say snake #1 has the beginning of a RI which has not been caught yet, now you feed another snake a prey that came in contact with snake #1 saliva.
While this is an hypothesis cross contamination is very real, now ultimately it's up to you to see if it is worth it to take a chance.

I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Read that sentence back to yourself a couple of times....
No. Just, no.
Re: Sharing regurgitated food
This question should of been asked before you did it, not after....obviously you knew there could be a risk that's why you asked the question....I look at it this way when a snake refuses, if it would of ate the rat it would of been gone anyways so why not just throw it out. If it was a simply refusal then yes you could of fed it to another but since they had there mouth on it then no it's a bad idea.

Lesson learned for next time. Not a good idea.

I hope it's OK to change your mind on this forum.
After giving your situation a little more thought and after reading the other very logical comments, I too agree that it is probably not a good idea to share food that has possibly been contaminated by another snake.

This is a great Forum.
