Possible upper ri in red tail boa
Does hosing a humidifier into a tub for 30 mins with your boa in cure a possible RI. If it's caught early enough. Also if there is nothing visually blocking the snakes nasal passage, do they sometimes make popping noises pre-shed? Thank you.

I got a corn with an RI and did the vapo rub treatment. One container with holes for ventilation, one larger air tight container, a measuring cup, and vapo rub is what I used. I put snake in the ventilated container and placed that into the large container. Put a cup of hot water in a measuring cup, and dissolve a teaspoon of vapo rub ointment in it. Place that into the large container with your snake and close the lid. I checked on him after 5 minutes and put him in there for another 5. After 48 hours his popping and crackling was diminished. I gave him another treatment for good measure and now he's right as rain. Make sure you have a good vet lined up, though. I've had good results with this treatment, but if it doesn't work for you, you may need to take your boa to a vet for antibiotics.

I have had luck using the f10 neb . Not saying it's a cure all , not recommending it . Just saying it's worked for me .

I've heard about the f10 nebulizer method. After I did the vapo treatment of course. Could you provide some details on how you did it?

Never use Vicks vapo rub, it contains camphor which is poisonous for reptiles and is a common ingredient in "natural" snake repellants.

Same for product with eucalyptus, it's another no-no.

If you are going to nebulize anything, do it with plain water or sterile saline solution.

Or just increase the heat and humidity in the enclosure until you can get the snake to a vet.

Before you jump the gun, no it's not unheard of for them to make similar noises to RI while going into shed. How big is the boa? The larger the snake the more audible it becomes.

shes about a year and 3 feet in length. The popping noise happens and the snake seems to exhale deeply. It's not every single breath and there's no gaping, no bubbles in the nostrils, nothing on sides of mouth or bubbles inside of mouth. She's very active, eats and drinks well also her tongue flickers very fast and often. You can't hear the popping unless it's really quiet. And she's going into shed as we speak. Thanks.
