How often?
So, I've had my baby ball python, Kaa, for about 3 weeks and he's eaten every time I've offered him food. I was really worried because when I went to pick him up, the person there said that he wasn't eating and that I shouldn't buy him, but at the same time Kaa didn't even have a heat source to keep him warm.
So, the question is how often to clean his cage? He's in a tub, I don't know what size but it's big enough for him, even as an adult and aspen bedding. He hasn't pooped with me at all, and a few urates that I spot cleaned. Should I just clean and disinfect anyways?

Re: How often?
I think generally every 15-30 you should give it a deep clean. And spot clean between

You should clean as best as you can as soon as you can. The only time I do not clean up immediately is when they are mating. If you are using natural substrate most spot clean then totally replace the substrate on a schedule. Hopefully someone will make a suggestion. I am an absolute clean freak with my animals because I am keeping so many in way closer conditions than they would ever live naturally. Only paper towels in my tubs and I do a full cleaning every time there is anything in the tub that could grow bacteria or mold. (poop, urates, blood)

If it's in a small tub, I second paper towels and cleaning anytime you see anything in there. Just a quick wash out with some dawn and warm water and a rinse and dry. Don't worry about the pooping... I had mine for about 2 months before she pooped. Mine will poop when she sheds and sometimes once in between, but not often.

I use paper and I clean after every mess . Always have , always will.
