    Concerns about BEL?
I need some ball python help! I had a customer bring me his BEL ball python. He just bought her from C Serpents at repticon. She's 8 months and 179g. When he holds her, she falls limp. Literally just dangles. She did it to me too. And it almost looks like she is corkscrewing... he said she wasn't like this when he first bought her and is concerned. I looked her over and spent a great deal of time discussing details and his setup is nearly spot on. Anyone know what could cause this?

His temps were a tad low which we addressed and he corrected. Humidity is 71%. Substrate is aspen. Cage is 40B. She also has tendency to hide under her water dish

I went through something like this with one of my BEL's. The snake is either very ill or, wait for it ....., it is a spider. Get it in different light or under a blacklight. If it is a spider the alien heads will appear to be more tightly packed then they would be in the base morph. In my case I hadn't intended to buy a spider and the breeder missed it. It is very hard to tell unless you know exactly what you are looking for.

Hopefully he quarantined tht snake..almost sounds like IBD. Last year I acquired a ball frm a local show, he appeared healthy.. 5 weeks later, he was dead. He displayed the same behaviors as U described. I will never buy another snake at another show.

Could be anything from temporary over heating to chemical exposure. People always jump the gun and scream IBD without a single proof which can be very damaging in this hobby, people should really stop reading symptoms online and make their own diagnoses.

If he is really concern no offence to you but he should consult with a qualified herp vet.

All new snakes should be QTd for this reason.

She took 2 mice today and is much more active. Perhaps stress?
