    Few questions
So I just got my first BP on Sunday and was just wondering a few things.

Is it normal for them to stay in the same hide for days at a time? I have identical hides on both the cold and hot side. Its around 77-81 on the cold side and 88-92 on the hot side, but I haven't seen him on the cold side except for when I was putting some more things in his terrarium and had move him. I've seen him out once, which was last night drinking water I think. Other than those 2 times, he's been in his hot hide the rest of the time, which, from what I've learned, is a good thing.

Second, I have a thermostat connected to an UTH on the hot side, which doesn't get higher than 95 on the glass. I also have a digital thermometer in his hide, on top of the substrate, which was always between 88-92 the last 2 days but it hasn't been higher than 89 today. I assume he pushed a little substrate under it or something. Since the probe from the thermostat is on the bottom glass and never goes above 95, am I fine with just leaving the thermometer probe where it is, so I don't have to disrupt him?

Third, how long should I wait before trying to feed him for the first time? I know you're supposed to wait like 5-7 days before starting to handle them in a new enclosure.

Yes, in fact, it's actually a good thing. Especially when they're in a new enclosure.

He'll thermoregulate as he needs to. Leave that to him ;)

Sounds about right. You can even bump up the T-Stat two or three degrees if you need to. 98 on the glass won't burn him even if he lays right on it.

My personal rule of thumb is 7-10 days. Some will tell you two weeks. Some feed the day they get them home. The right answer is to do whatever works for your snake.
