Price for Bananas all over the place?
So on another thread someone mentioned to me that the going rate for bananas these days is $200-250. However I'm noticing that a lot of good reputable breeders (examples can be found on morphmarket) are listing theirs at up to $500-600+ for juveniles. Just curious as to why this would be if it's so much higher than the baseline?
Re: Price for Bananas all over the place?
Are they just plain Bananas or multi gene/hets?

True, I always forget about this with the weird banana gene

I should mention I don't think the snake has to be female to be a female maker. Correct me if I'm wrong

Lots of people over complicate it. To summarize...
Female bananas produce normal sex ratios.
A male banana can be a male maker or a female maker depending on how they were produced. A male from a male banana parent will be a male maker. A male from a female banana parent will be a female maker.

Well, it takes a female and a male... so..... not sure what you're saying... lol... I believe it comes down to the male. Some male's only produce males, while others will produce females.
Back to the original topic, I have always seen that hets, if not 100% het, will sell for pretty close to the normal price. Maybe a tad higher, but not much since there isn't that "guarantee" that the gene is present. I have recently seen some banana het pieds for well over $500. I guess if they'd prove out, it might be worth it, but that's a risk.

I meant to quote Dave on that who mentioned that they are probably females. I didn't think they were females but rather female makers

I didn't go to morph market but female makers would be more expensive as well. I didn't sell any last year but the year before they were going for approx. 3x the price of a male maker
