Current Situation

Need some advice... Here is my current situation... 20 gal long... 52 humidity 86 degrees (cool side)..... 48 humidity 90 degrees warm side..... how can i get the humidity up on the warm side... I have a CHE on the warm side and UTH set at 86 on the cool side.... this is what works best for me.... just need some more humidity....

You have a few options:
1) mist cage if you aren't already

2) cover top if you haven't already

3) increase size of water bowl or move water bowl under CHE and add another to cool side

4) change substrate to one that holds moisture better (cypress mulch or coconut fibre)

5) add a damp hide with sphagnus moss or pockets of moss throughout cage

Plexiglass top with holes i have installed

CHE is about 1 inch from the water bowl.... will look into that too. Also CHE is about 1/2 inch from screen top

Forest Flooring for substrat (7 days old)... Maybe stir it up some since it has set for 7 days

Since you have the forest floor substrate, mist it fairly heavily (not to the point of flooding it) as it will absorb the water and slowing allow it to evaporate off. I do this is a handful of spots around my cage and it seems to hold humidity for 3-4 days easily.

I would drop the cool side temp 4-6 degrees, 86 is a bit high IMO. Your only giving a 4 degree gradient. Around 79-82 would be a good cool temp. 86 is probably alright but I just think its to close to the warm side temp. I like to have a 8-10 degree gradient. Like I said that's my opinion.

I agree with chrid, the cool spot temp should be high 70s to low 80s. Also, you could lower the hot side to 88 degrees which may slightly improve your humidity.

My boa's humidity (or lack thereof) was keeping me up at night. I started a thread about a month ago that yielded lots of great suggestions and I even figured out a solution eventually... check it out, only two pages, i hope it helps.

Will drop both side temp and see what happens... being new i tried to keep the temp and humidity exactly what I was told... 90 warm, 85 cool 50-60 % humidity... easier said then done....

I am also looking into reptichip.... but not sure how much to mix.... no need for the entire block to be mixed.
