Need some feeding advice for my growing baby.
I have a young bp who is between 300 and 400g, I'm waiting for the coming poo to get an accurate weight. Now she's been growing steadily and is healthy, in fact she just shed I think yesterday, but she looked slightly thin when I had her out today (except for the sausage butt). She should be on either rat pups or weanlings, but my supplier recently stopped selling those sizes. Currently she is on large mice around 30g each and is a little too small for my supplier's small rats.

My current dilemma is that is not worth it for me to order a larger feeder when she will be on small rats soon and the brb won't be even near that size anytime soon.

I'm thinking I'll keep feeding her the 30g mice but switch to a 4 or 5 day schedule for her instead of the 7 day on she is currently on. Any advice would be much appreciated.

if she's 300-400grams, a 30gram adult mice sounds fine on a 5-7day schedule until u can get the right sized rat. that's 10% or a lil more of her weight which is the ideal prey size if u like to measure these things. she won't starve, she won't get fat and should always be ready to eat when offered at this rate.

Thank you! That's what I've been thinking based on the research, she's just acting hungry a little more than normal, but that could just be a growth spurt.

if she just shed and has a sausage butt, she might be getting ready to poop lol. then she'll be empty and hungrrry. ;)

Lol she's always ready to eat, even deep in blue. Her hunger rivals that of some kings I've met haha

I agree with Ax. A mouse every 5-7 days sounds good. If she's closer to 400g you could even offer a 2nd mouse on occasion.
