Ball python fell

My daughter's new ball python let go when she was holding him and fell to the wood floor. She's 5 feet tall, so he fell about 3 feet. He seemed perfectly fine when I rushed to pick him up, but we're worried. Is there something we should be watching him for in the way of damage to him, or just go straight to the vet? I've had one of my kingsnakes fall that far before with no harm, but a ball python has more weight to him (this is an adult male, breeding weight). Thanks for your advice.

I'd keep an eye on him. If he looks okay and seems to be acting moving okay, he's probably fine. They take falls in the wild when they get on a branch or something and fall off... not ideal, but I doubt it's anything you have to worry about.

Thank you - we both feel pretty stupid for not watching him better, since he's new to us and we didn't know how good he was at holding on. Now we know! I will keep a close eye on him, and hope we dodged a bullet. A sweet snake and I'd hate to have harmed him. I really appreciate your response.:)

I've had a few of my snakes fall - you learn pretty quickly how clumsy they can be ;) It always makes you feel awful, but like the other poster said, they take falls in the wild, too, and they're pretty hardy. Just keep an eye on him.

they're all muscle I'm pretty sure he didn't even feel it imo

I've dropped my boa once or twice- he gets squirmy and thrashy when he wants no part of me cleaning his cage. From that high I think your little guy will be fine.
