    Substrate/fasting experiment fail
Posted a couple weeks ago about trying to break my males 4 month fast by doing an enclosure clean and swapping the cypress/aspen mix I'd been using and going back to 100% cypress.
All went according to plan, I defrosted him a perfect small rat and slid one of his glass doors open a bit and heated it up with blow dryer. He came piling out of his hide and by the way he acted I really thought he was finally going to eat. I carefully danced the rat in front of him but despite coming right up to it and smelling it all over he wouldn't strike. I left it in his enclosure over night but this morning it was still there. This guy seems intent on driving me crazy. Try again in 2 weeks I guess.

Sometimes I think they enjoy our struggle, lol. I hadn't fed my boa for a few weeks, I went to feed her last week and she completely ignored it. I was shocked! This was at like, four in the afternoon, and I left it there for the night. In the morning it was still there, but at my own risk I decided to leave it there until I got home at 3, came home for lunch and saw it was gone, woo! 😛 Longest I'd ever left a rat in there, but I'm glad I didn't remove it that morning. Hopefully your buddy decides to eat next time.

At least he seemed interested! Give it another try later. Ball pythons are amazing with their ability to fast. ;)

Yes I believe he's now just trolling the crap out of me. I've tried about everything from different size prey to now this. Going back to just offering every two weeks and hopefully he'll get going soon.
