Spots on female pied, after laying?
On 4/16 my pied female laid 7 eggs (that so far look good), she was about 2100 grams.
Now she has these reddish spots and we don’t know exactly what they are.
If she bends, the scales lift a bit and you can see this under them (maybe sorta like a very small scab?)
    No they are not mites,
No it is not scale rot
Yes temps are correct (90 on hot side, high 70’s on the cool side)
Yes she went to the vet (which also took an X-ray, which showed nothing unusual)
There does not appear to be an egg stuck.
She has started eating again (so far just started on a few mice)
She is otherwise acting normal, and the spots don’t seem to be sensitive (she does not pull away if you touch them)

For now, the vet is thinking some sort of infection (although we don’t know from what), and we are seeing if baytril makes her show improvement.

Has anyone seen anything like this? Or have any ideas?

Just checking to see if anyone has any helpful info.

I am a total newbie and have never bred them but could it perhaps be the snake equivalent of a stretch mark? Xx

Re: Spots on female pied, after laying?
Sorry to see the condition of the pied female. Thanks for all the presentation of the illness and then having the frame of mind to take her to the vet. To me it does look like small hemorrhages into the scales and could be indicative of a potential infective process. Maybe consider switching her over to paper towels (no print). First look at the condition I was thinking it could be newsprint dye on her but then I saw the other views which show its blood in the scales. I wonder if it could be a type of allergic response? :( Beautiful pied btw!

What type of substrate was she on prior to laying?

she has always been on newspaper. Allergy would be weird, as she has been on this for years.

kinda soon to tell (these things change slowly), but it may be getting better with the baytril (at least not getting worse).

still not exactly sure what caused it.
