I read somewhere that to thourghly clean your snake's cage that you need to steralize the hides and water bowls in the oven. Does anyone know the temp and for how long?

    Not true.

I regularly disinfect with Nolvasan. Mild bleach solutions work well too.

Be careful, there is a lot of bad information "out there". ;)

If the hides are wood, then you can soak them in bleach water, scrub them, and them soak them in plain water until the bleach smell goes away. Then bake at about 250-300 degrees until thoroughly dry. Stones can be bakes, but they may blow up if oven is too hot, or the rock has a hollow center. I haven't had any rocks explode though :) Other things like water bowls you can just scrub well with dishwashing liquid. With branches, you can do the same as the wooden hides.

    Hope that helped :)

I am a huge proponent of the old chlorexidine rinse mix!
