BP regalus hunger strike for months...
My P. Regalus Mary Jane has eaten one rat in two months; Last time she came close to feeding she nipped a piece of mouse off and left the rest alone. She's about 3 feet and on rats, but I'm thinking that if this isn't a phase I might need to assist feed and I'm afraid to hurt her jaw.

She's fine. She sounds big enough to last more than a few months without eating. I don't know what everyone's rush is to assist feed (this isn't directed at you specifically, I've just seen it a lot lately from people with healthy snakes.)

I wasn't totally alarmed. In fact she cuts off the food bill quite a bit if I wait long intervals between attempts at feeding.

It's been four months now for my female ball but she seems healthy and active. The boa is always eager to take care of the rats she doesn't eat - just have to schedule the ball feeding when my boa should eat.

As long as they are hydrated and not looking thin, they are fine. My adult male, who finally ate after going 5 months on just a couple very small meals, is still healthy. He doesn't seem to like to eat during winter months. An adult snake can go a long time without a meal. Just make sure to keep fresh water and keep it's humidity up so it won't get dehydrated from not eating.

    Don't assist feed.

BP regalus hunger strike for months...
Elvira is at 6.5 months so far this year. She's been fasting every winter for years. As you can see, she is not suffering from it at all.

I'm a bit relieved to see this post. My male bp has not eaten since October  It's a bit frustrating. I literally just attempted to feed him a few minutes ago and he's not even remotely interested. So far his weight is stable, so I guess I'll just have to keep trying every 3 weeks again. sigh*
