    Beautiful Colombian Locality BC.
This guy has come a long way in the 3 years he arrived at my door step. April 23, 2013 around 10AM the FedX guy came with the package.

Sniper is over 6 feet long now, lean and muscular. He enjoyed lower temps and no food over the winter. Guess what? He grew!

It was finally warm enough for some I-Phone pictures yesterday.

Barranquilla, Colombian BCI. Produced by Gus Rentfro and sold to me by LEGACY REPTILES.

The boas from this local are said to be what a natural cross between BCC and BCI would look like. Scale counts and other characteristics differ from the "common BCI". Instead they seem to have both BCC and BCI traits.

That said, the tail is not BCC, however it looks nice in the sun and note the lateral compression (flat sides/tall body) he has going on.http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/y...a/IMG_3177.jpg

Some folks don't believe boa constrictors are all that active compared to other snakes. That can be true, but I feel that is due in part to over feeding. A properly fed BC will become active and when they are setup in caging with options, you can see several natural behaviors.

If you can't set them up with good sized caging, get them out for exercise, both you and the snake will benefit.

He looks bigger in person all stretched out. He will be 4 years old the end of June.

I'll use a real camera and get some better pics at that time.

    Until then, enjoy these.

    He looks great!
The strong laddertail can be seen in BCC but I get what you are saying. ;)

Oh yeah I know what you mean. And in all reality not all BCC come equipped with blood red tails.

    Thanks for checking him out.

If I could add another snake I'd have a tough time picking between a Suri or a Bredli carpet.

My collection is missing one of those.

Lately I have been thinking about adding some diversity to my collection and letting two of my Bloods go and get something different I don't have. I think my collection could use a Red Tail of some sort, a Dum, and my largest want a ETB.

    That's a good looking snake!

Thank you for the kind words

Legacy Reptiles has most of the old Rentfro stock.

You will find these Colombians there and some beautiful BCC as well. They are producing some Iquitos, Peruvian BCC that are unreal.

The Colombians will cost far less. You owe yourself a treat this summer!! LOL!

Sniper looks great Gio! :) I love the fact that he grew during the winter fast, and healthy looking too.

Yes, it's true, and it is written in THE COMPLETE BOA CONSTRICTOR that boas grow when they are not fed.

I have confirmed this to an extent here, but I also started spring feeding.

I notice in the first picture he (Sniper) is a little pudgy in the tail or slightly above the actual tail. That is his last meal ready to be eliminated. I usually see urates first and then within a week of that he will poop.

He will lean out after that even more.

I think the next meal will be a quail probably in mid May and then I'll give him a rabbit after that. I would not be surprised if I only feed him 8-9 times this year.

    Reinz,

I dig your collection. You have carpets and BC's. I can't imagine much more fun.

We still have a royal here that hasn't eaten since early November. She has eaten 3 times in the last year and has hidden the rest of the time.

My goal is a BCC and a Bredli here.

Sounds like one shy BP that you have there.

While my one BP is very outgoing, for me, Boas were a step up in the fun factor. Then the Carpets a step up from the Boas. Now these are baby steps mind you, I enjoy all of my snakes. But as you know, the Carpets are bit more challenging to handle while just being plain cool and more fun.

I see Photo Bucket is having issues.

My pictures are no longer here. At least my newest pictures.

    Anybody use Photo Bucket?

I'm at 97% full but not maxed out so I'm at a loss.
