What happened to the Atomic morph?

This is an incredible mutation that there doesn't seem to be much information on. I have never seen one for sale so I decided to look into it. It seemed to have popped up around 2011 and then virtual silence after 2013. The pictures seem to have gone missing from WOBP and even the originator's, Mike Wilbanks, website seem to make no mention of it. This seem really strange to me as this morph could really have been the next big thing in ball pythons. All I can figure is that the morph has proven to be non heritable but I can't seem to find anything that even mentioned this. You would think the industry would want this information out there so as people can not fraud community members.

Oh wow, you're right, Mike removed it from the morph list of pythonregius (or at least I can't find it) ... I remember seeing it there just last year?

I guess it could be but it just so hush hush that it seems a bit suspicious. Why not just come out and say you jumped the gun a bit? I hope no one got duped.

Certainly wouldn't be the first time that someone came out with a unusual looking animal saying 'of course it's a morph, just look at it, obviously it's GOT to be genetic' and then figured out that it wasn't reproducible. Then again, maybe it's EXTRA special and he want's to keep this project under wraps. The fact is, it takes a LONG time to prove out a new mutation and we really won't know anything about it until others are working with it.

I thought there was more than just one atomic tho, weren't there a few different atomic combos from what I remember?

well the most straight forward answer would to be to ask Mike. from what I remember, it was thought to be a recessive morph, which depending on what sex animals you produce and luck of breedings can take far longer than a dom/co-dom/inc-dom to make something worth sharing. Then say they start to think it is not simple recessive and might have some polygenetic tendencies or the morph has physical problems, they might want to take some time to figure out what is going on. but if you want something other than speculation... ask Mike himself.
