good but less common snakes?

Im wanting a snake thats still relatively easy to care for and doesnt get over 5-6 feet, but that is not an extremely common snake like a ball python or cornsnake. There are 2 snakes ive been looking at: the green tree python because there arboreal species and i like there bright green appearwnce, the second is a hognose cause of there nose and color. Anyone else have any ideas?

Garters are fun. I have been considering getting into them. Small size and very easy to keep with so many color and pattern mutations coming out

I'd go with a jungle carpet python. They're beautiful display animals, great feeders, within your preferred size range, and the husbandry is pretty simple.

House snake?

House snake, file snake, Stimson python, savu python, small locality boas, ground boas, barons racers, children python, spotted python, or an Amazon tree boa.

I was in the same spot. I was getting bored with ball pythons. I ended up with a kalatoa retic.

I agree ball pythons are great but they really are the "pet rocks" of the snake world lol. I would second the jungle carpet if you get a really nice high yellow one you won't be able to stop staring at it. Plus you can handle them readily unlike some GTP's.

I've recently been really into the rarer boa species. You might want to consider dominican red mountain boas (or anything in the strigilatus/striatus complex), jamaican boas, rainbow boas (not as rare). Theres a ton of awesome snakes that you never hear about if you look into it.

African House Snakes are severely underrated in my opinion. Fun little colubrids with cool cat eyes. Easy to breed. Easy to keep.
