Shedding

My one year old ball python is having trouble shedding.
Right now its stuck on most of his lower body and the top of his head. I've read about putting him in damp towels and so right now I have him on one over a heating pad but is there anything else I can do?

He just started moving around but up till now he was under it

Won't hurt to soak him in a warm bath that is just enough to cover his body for about an hour it will definitely help him get the moisture that his skin needs to shed the old.

To my understanding, soaking in a bath can strip the oils from the skin, creating a long-term problem. When one of mine was having trouble, shortly after I got her, I soaked a pillow case, squeezed out most of the water, put her inside and set it about mid-way in her tub so she could warm up or cool down as desired. Damp, but not a soak. After a while in there, slithering around against the fabric, the stuck shed came right off. Cleaning the pieces of shed skin out of the inside of the pillow case, however, took longer.

Is he always kept in a tank? As soon as I see a snake go blue I stick a damp handful of sphagnum moss in the corner of their tubs and I never have shedding issues if you want to start doing that.

I would say it really depends on how bad of stuck shed it is. I have used the pillow case method on a couple of my snakes when they just need a little extra assistance on my bad ones I will bath tub soak them for 30 mins to an hour and have never seen any long term issues with them.

Yeah, he's my only snake and I have him as a pet and not selling or breeding so I keep him in a tank but in the pictures its his old tank which is smaller than his normal one. His tank usually has that moss in it already and I just amp up the humidity when he goes blue

Give him a wad of damp paper towels. I've seen my guys rub their face on something damp so maybe he'll do it too.
