    Finally!
Lorraine finally broke her winter fast! This evening she ate a large rat, grabbing it after just a couple of sniffs. Here's the odd thing, throughout her winter fast I had offered her a medium rat, same size as she had been eating every 10 days or so. She started her refusal sometime in October, which is what she had done last year as well, so I wasn't worried. I just kept an eye on her weight, and continued the every 10 day offerings.

Last year she broke her fast earlier than this, early March I think, so I was beginning to get worried about her, because she started acting hungry last month, but was steadfastly refusing her rats. Something I read in one of the threads on here started me thinking, what if during her fast she decided that her regular meals were not enough? On a chance that was the problem I purchased a large rat, and she took it happily.

Sometimes, I swear, taking care of Ball Pythons is like trying to read minds.
