    Bamboo
    Hello

Some bamboo balls i have seen caught my eyes last year, since then i have been thinking about getting a male for a bamboo project. Though on my search i also noticed there are some (for me) real bamboo looking bamboos and also some that go towards more looking like a lesser ?

So i was wondering what would be key features that differs a bamboo from a lesser ?

Could you show us the bamboos in question? From what I can tell a bamboo should look nothing like a lesser at any time.

But generally a bamboo has very... faded sides and a distinct dorsal area. It reminds me of the calico gene.

Don't got the pic on here, but it is a bamboo not a lesser for certain, it just looks more towards a lesser. The bamboos I have in mind around that age have more of a silverish colour to them.
So i just wondered what other people see as key features of the bamboo gene :D

But yes the faded sides is a nice one indeed

I don't think bamboo has been around long enough for us to see the range of variation it can come in. However I agree from the bamboos I have seen, there wasn't much question, lesser coloring with all that extra fading and pattern.

I am partially color blind so some subtle colorations escape me but, to me, a "nice" bamboo should have a very strong dorsal pattern with very little pattern on the sides. They do look a little like lessers to me but the dorsal pattern is a dead giveaway. I have been holding out but this year I may break down and fork over the cash for one. I'm looking for a nice single gene male.

On a side note has anyone heard of any issues with these yet like the eyes on the super lessers?

I would say the pattern is a pretty dead give away. Faded sides to white, and almost silvery shine to them. I only have 1 but they do range in pattern from a more reduced look to a not busier, but more patterned distorted alien head look that fades as it goes towards the belly. I can't wait to get my girl up to size and get some clown genes mixed in there :)
