    Thermostat question
My older model Ranco thermostat came pre-wired from Ranco with an attached surge strip.

The model that Reptile Basics sells only has a single plug. If I wanted to run two CB-70 racks on it, could I plug in a surge strip, or would I have to buy another thermostat? I am assuming that one thermostat will at the very least run a single rack.

This is the one I am looking at.

You could plug in a strip just don't go over the max wattage that the thermostat is rated for.

Okay, thanks. For now it just has to run a single rack.

Running multiple heat sources from one thermostat can be very risky. With only 1 probe, how do you know all your temps are good? Also, someone just posted a thread about their ranco literally burning out.

Actually as long as all of the heat sources are identical, correctly connected and powered up at the same time there really isn't a problem unless you overload your thermostat.
How do I know all my temperatures are good? I have another tub with a thermometer in it and the probe over the heat source, it gets rotated through the racks. ;):gj:

My other Ranco runs five small heat pads. I've never had an issue with it.
