he ate; I am ecstatic

In february, I rescued 3 male BPs forom a jerk who was keeping them all wrong. They had not eaten in awhile in his care, he "forgot" when he had fed them last.
Well, two of them turned out to be real good eaters. The third guy is extremely skittish and was not eating anything I offered; mice live and prekilled; rats the same way.
Well last night I tried feeding him a live subadult rat and.. he ate it! I am so relieved now. This guy was really starting to worry me.
You know that feeling when your nonfeeder finally eats; I love it.

Congrats!!! I know they all have a good home now. It just took the third one longer to realize it! I'm sure that's a great deal of relief for you. :banana:

It sure is. I am OK with my pet snakes not eating; one of my males stops eating every winter like clockwork. But with the new guys, it was more of an issue of "will they eat?" since I never saw them eat. And the idiot who owned them,s aid he could not remember when he fed them last!

Maybe he was just holding out for just the right rat :P

Congrats on the successful feeding! How can someone be so uncaring they don't even know when they fed their pet last? I mean I know snakes sometimes go for period w/o eating but you'd think if you had three ball pythons you keep track of who ate or didn't eat. Lucky for those snakes you took them in. Did they have any medical issues as I'm figuring their housing was probably crap, poor things.
