Rescued Snake has RI - Any tips/advice.
Okay. I'll try to make this short and to the point.

I own Ball Pythons and planned on breeding (I have planned on doing more research and then studying with a professional breeder, then have one babysit me when I decided to breed for my first time).

Well, I got my first Pied and and was super stoked about him and future learning to breed adventures.

A friend of a friend whom I've met a few times at a mutual snake lover's house saw that I was into pieds and offered to sell me one. I politely declined as in I already have enough snakes (7 balls and a retic) and that was my limit at the moment and that I was not educated enough to breed.

Said individual kept insisting he would "Hook me up".

Well eventually, I came home from hiking one day to find a box sitting on my porch. With a letter explaining I can "have" his 100% het pied female who might be gravid and that "if she's pregnant Im going to make bank". Also stated she has respiratory infection...

I opened the box, sure enough. Snot bubbles, yawning spit hanging from her house.

I have taken her to a vet and was sent home with Antibiotics
She has her own room away from ALL my other animals. (I also take a quick shower and change my clothes when Im done handling her)
She's on antibiotics and once a day I give her a 10 min. steam with Vicks Vapor rub and Eucalyptus oil.
She's on constant heat with 80% humidity

She's doing MUCH better since when I got her. Her tongue was not forked due to mucus making it stick together, is now working properly. Not spitting up anymore or making a popping noise. Just a little yawning and some wheezing when she breaths.

My question. Aside from what I am doing, is there any tips or advice I can get to help her? I pray she is not pregnant. And I spent most of my extra funds on her emergency vet care so I cannot afford an x-ray to see if she is pregnant but I really hope she is not.

    She is also eating regularly

Stop the Vicks and eucalyptus steam treatments, neither is good for reptiles. I would also completely clean and disinfect the cage daily so she's not re-infecting herself. Otherwise it sounds like you're doing everything right.

I wouldn't count on her being gravid, het pied, or even female either.

THIS ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ I would ask the vet to perform a culture and sensitivity test on the animal too. Just to make sure she is recieving the appropriate antibiotic/s. :)

    Wow!
I hope you cut off all further contact with that individual.
Presents like that are not good.

If it were me, I probably would have put her down rather than risk my other animals, but I'm glad to hear she is getting treatment.

I would have taken it in too, so I'm just glad the poor thing is getting away from that.... Person.

I wouldnt consider it a het, Gravid, or a she. Not until proven otherwise. I consider the rescues I take in as pets only, but that's just me.

I hope it continues to thrive under your care!
